The rumors were true: Jennifer Connelly is the fall 2009 face of Balenciaga. She last appeared in the label's ads for spring of 2008, slouching in an orange armor dress and those infamous knee-high gladiator sandals. Steven Meisel shot the new fall campaign and reactions are mixed. Sassybella calls the photo "awkward." Commenters on the Fashion Spot find it too sexy for Balenciaga. One notes, "She looks like she broke her neck, shoulder and left hand." And another who likes the ad wonders, "Why does she have to spread her legs??" We agree that her pose is awkward. She almost looks like she's waking up on Nicolas Ghesquière's couch rrafter passing out drunk somewhere, and is probably in for a very stiff neck. But though we've never bought any Balenciaga, we imagine people don't choose it for comfort, and Connelly's strange contortions have no effect on our burning desire to own everything she's wearing, down to the spotted tights. What say you?

Rumors were circulating saying that Jennifer Connelly will be de retour chez Balenciaga for the Balenciaga Fall Winter 2009 2010 Ad Campaign. Well, there she goes!

Awkwardly posing, comme d’habitude, Jennifer Connelly’s glittery outfit doesn’t save her from the judgmental audience. I’m used to seeing taking chances-Jennifer, but this is downright taking chances with basic physical laws. Human bodies don’t feel the comfort of that position. (though if the purpose was to have people starring at her gorgeous booties, I for one really am mesmerized by the beauty of those high heeled glitzy wonders!) And no, I don’t feel good about those spotted tights! Gimme veins printed tights instead, I’ll even wear those but not the tiny spotted ones! (photo via)

Jennifer Connelly has returned as the face of Balenciaga this Autumn after a brief hiatus. She last appeared in the campaign in Spring 2008 in an impressive heeled gladiator boots. I am happy to see her return to Balenciaga, but can't help but feel that this campaign is a bit awkward. Fellow blogger Sassy Bella was less than impressed by the shot, which has also been described as looking like she'd passed out drunk. One things for sure, it certainly shows off the clothing well. Otherwise, I'm not sure about this image which was shot by Steven Meisel – what do you think?
